The short version
Doc8 collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Your documents
Scanning, text recognition and search all happen on your phone. Your documents are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party, because we do not run any servers.
If you have iCloud Backup turned on, iOS may include the app's data in your normal device backup. You can exclude scans from backups in the app under Settings.
Camera, photos and files
The camera is used only to scan documents. Photos and files are read only when you choose to import them.
Face ID and passcode
If you turn on the vault lock, the app asks iOS to verify you. The app never receives your biometric data.
Widgets, Spotlight and Siri
Widgets show counts, not document names. Lock Screen reminders hide document names unless you turn them on. Spotlight indexes document names only, on your device.
Sending to a computer
If you use Wi-Fi transfer, Doc8 serves the files directly to a computer on your local network. Nothing passes through the internet or our servers.
